The minutes you wait are the minutes we spend making sure your visit to UNDERCLIFF is more than a meal! Our supplies are limited, enjoy them while they last! There is a lot of history under this cliff... In the mid-1800's, a Mr. Tipton owned this land where Shoal Creek was low enough for people traveling between Joplin & Neosho to make the crossing; the town which grew here was named Tipton Ford. In 1928, Ab McConnell opened a general store on this site named Undercliff, which is where our name originated from. The store operated until 1961 when Frank & Bonnie's known for delicious fried chicken, (which we do not serve) opened. In 1980 a fire destroyed the restaurant and the land remained vacant until UNDERCLIFF GRILL & BAR was established in February, 1995.
